RE: Banks stuff on sale

I know their stuff is on sale and they have just come out with a new design for the Banks Exhaust Brake which we are thinking of getting. Of course that won't be on sale because it is a NEW item! Jo

RicheO, I had NO idea you were a Jets fan........ This may change any future camping plans we were thinking of making. As my hubby is a BIG Dol-Fan! Jody

RE: need health insurance - too young for medicare - ????

Since president elect Obama is not president yet, I'd at least give the man a chance considering what he is inheriting. It will take LOTS of time and LOTS of money to straighten out our country. In addition it will certainly take LOTS of patience...... Jo

RE: need health insurance - too young for medicare - ????

So I guess I HAVE to put in my 2 cents here. I have worked for a surgeon for 28 years now and NO he is NOT getting rich! The insurance companies (Medicare/Medicare/PPO's & HMO's) have decreased our payment for about 20 straight years. We have NOT raised our fees in at least 20 years - why bother? We get paid about $250-$300 for a hernia repair - hardly worth the effort considering the cost of malpractice! Oh yeah, that's right - he hasn't been able to afford that for about 10 years now. Try asking the hospitals how much they charge and wont' write off! My husband had gallbladder surgery, was in there about 22 hours and our bill was over $35,000 and after insurance, we still owed $8,000...... so I know ALL about the medical insurance crisis! Jo

RE: Wyoming residency

Since Nov & Dec are the months for renewing all RV/house & tow vehicle tags, I already did that & when we start using my moms address as our 'new' address; then we'll advise our auto insurance and change driver's license also. When we're through 'roaming our beautiful country' for a few months then we'll change all to the Georgia property address where the fiver will be parked until we can get a house 'delivered'.......hahaha Jody

RE: Wyoming residency

When I sell my residence in South Florida (hopefully early next year, if I am lucky), do you think it is okay to leave my residency status at Florida, since my mom lives in Ocala - we can use her address - just for six months of traveling and then when we settle down on our property in Georgia (that we currently use as a vacation spot) we could then change our residency to Georgia. ie. tags, licenses, insurances, etc.etc. ? ? That will work for a short-full-timing stint, wouldn't it? Don't know when we will 'really' full time, that may be some years away! Jo

RE: City ordinance banning Rvs on homeowners property

Our 32' fiver must be kept behind at least a 6' fence, that you cannot see through in our back yard. As long as it isn't in my front yard or my swale and behind that fence it is okay. Even though you can see most of the front cap and the a/c that is okay! Works for me, thank goodness. Others in our neighborhood have their boats the same way on the side or back of their house. We purposely looked for a house in a no homeowners association neighborhood, with no city rules banning our RV in the side yard. What is funny though is for 10 years my husband parks his company white van with small lettering in our drive way - no one ever complained - then last month we get a 'warning' notice to remove it. We bought white magnetic signs for 50 bucks and no problems since - however, a neighbor with a pop-up camper who keeps it in his driveway gets no notice........ oh well, make the best of it all I say and try to stay out of the way of the guys who write the notices! RE: Tampa, Ft Myers

Alafia river state park in Lithia, FL is just East of Tampa inland. We will be there four nights, starting tonight. Fort Desoto is near impossible to get into unless you are a resident of the county it is in......you can wait outside the gates and IF it is during the week, possibly get a spot for a few days. But if you arrive on a Friday forget it! It is 4 hrs from our home, so we never get to just take a chance. But we LOVE Hillsborough River State Park.....great canoeing in the area! Jo

RE: Curry Hammock SIte 20 Thanksgiving Day

RicheO, We MISS again! We are going to Alafia River State Park for 4 nights....... Can't wait - never been there. Unfortunately the water is TOO low to paddle the river.......danged! It was one of the reason we were going there. But we'll enjoy turkey day anyway, the bike trails and some fishing at the lake! Happy Turkey Day! Jody

RE: Becareful where you chose to work

Could it also be a financial considertion and/or a 'no place to go' consideration? I don't full time yet or work kamp, but hope to some day. Since I don't know the ins and outs of all this, just thought that could be another reason to stick it out! Jo

RE: Short Box + 5th wheel

We have a short bed F250, and have a low profile tool box in front of our slider hitch, but we keep out 2 Honda generators in there. We have NO auxillary fuel tank; but, we do carry 2 - 5 gallon cans with us of extra diesel fuel since our fuel tank is only 29 gallons. We get about 10-12 miles MPG when towing our fiver! Jo

RE: Campground Recommendation Needed - Central Florida

How about Lake Louise SP.........it is on US 27, just NW of the Orlando Theme parks. We like it there. It is a large park - nice and quiet there. JO

RE: Daytona Turkey Run Camping

Don't believe they have any and I've been going over 25 years. There is Tomoka State Park nearby, but won't handle a larger RV. There is another one we'd stayed at for an overnighter one year, off of I-95, just South of the track, west side of interstate - but I can't remember the name.........International or something like that. RE: new 5th wheel

Trippinbillies, What does that Wyoming weigh? I see it has 4 slides and you are pulling it with a F250 with a V10? Looks pretty nice though! Jo

RE: Do you have a name for your RV?

We calls ours: pharfrumwurken The name is a carryover from our first RV, cause the saying 'still applies'......... Jo

RE: Roots of your RV addiction??

My story is a little different from most, but here goes....... My parents, who rarely got along, decided after my brother & I grew up that they'd give it another shot at happiness. They bought a 29' Layton travel trailer that needed lots of TLC. Mom was a seamstress and dad was a treamster - they were both pretty tough birds & they fixed it up great. I was married with children then so when 'they' went camping, we sometimes met up with them, staying in the bunk beds up front. I truly loved camping but 'that' husband didn't like it. Eighteen years later when I got divorced & met a new hubby he agreed after my urging to get a hybrid camper. We had this four years and by then he truly loved camping. This year we bought a new fifth wheel and it has been fabulous so far. I am hoping that some day we'll get to do more camping than the 45-50 days we get in each year now. We both still work full time but when not working, we ARE camping! Jo

RE: Brake Problems

Not that this will answer the OP's question, but in Trailer Life Mag this month they show and tested the new Banks Exhaust Brake...said it is much improved over previous version. We were gonna get ours in 08' before our vacation but were unable to. Now we are definitely getting the new one before our next trip in 09' Jo

RE: Favorite Florida State Parks

Has anyone on this board stayed at Faver-Dykes with a fiver or a motorhome? We have a fiver about 12'3" high and wonder how the trees are getting to the sites? Jo
